DAY 1

The first day started with a beautiful Powhiri & morning tea plus a warm welcome from Managing Director Rob Marks. From there some formalities. Such as the programme and student handbook walk through and the Quality Assurance Overview. Soon after an introduction workshop for Canvas (learning management system) and Turnitin (plagiarism checking tool) The day ended with an intriguing panel discussion with previous students and new ones.

THE PANEL

For the first time ever we trialed a new initiative called The Panel. The purpose of this was to shine the spotlight onto our recent graduates to showcase their student journey and share with our newest students their trials & tribulations, struggles, and hardships.

A special thank you to our three NZIE graduates Thiago Tavares, Emma Ibrahim, Moumita Das Roy. Thanks so much for participating! Bravely facing new students, confidently answering questions, and sharing your unique experiences and stories.

GUEST SPEAKER from The Recipe

Daniel Baird from The Recipe (Auckland digital marketing agency) had a chat with our newest intake on his best advice entering the Digital Marketing industry. He touched on some really important aspects that will help set our students up for success!

Some key takeaways:

➡  The easiest way to make money is to fix people’s problems. Solve business problems.

➡  Going the extra mile to solve problems and generate the desired outcomes is the best way to differentiate yourself and become recession-proof.

➡  You can create your own pathway

➡  Connect your learning and technical skills to the end reality of the bigger picture.

GUEST SPEAKER from The Creative Store / The Digital Store

NZIE were also incredibly lucky enough to have Ginnaya, Consultant at The Creative Store come in. She ran a CV workshop and presented some interesting facts about the current Digital Marketing landscape within New Zealand right now.

Some skills that are in high demand with the team @ the Creative Store and The Digital Store – New Zealand right now are:

  1. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) – They are actively seeking specialists who can confidently optimise websites.
  1. Data and Analytics – In need of marketers that have strong knowledge in this area, as it is now all about making data-driven business decisions.
  1. CX/UX (Customer Experience & User Experience) – Knowledgeable in mapping out the buyer journey and adding strategic elements based on CX & UX (User Experience).

We are so excited for our newest students to soak up all the great info that was packed into their 2-Day induction session. We’re very much looking forward to seeing them develop into masterful digital marketers!
