Tui's feedback on social media marketing course

Tui Taipeti-Kamo

Newly Certified Social Media Strategist

Introduce yourself, your background, life stage and what do you do in your day-to-day life?

My name is Tui Taipeti-Kamo, I am of Māori descent. I work for MSL Training as the Marketing Coordinator.

When did you figure out you first needed to acquire social media marketing skills? What sort of problem(s) or roadblock(s) did you face? Or what originally triggered your search to find a solution?

My background has been in sales however having completed my Business Management degree in Sales & Marketing. I quickly realised I wanted to pursue more of the marketing side as I enjoy the creative element that comes with the job. Though I had completed that qualification and there were relevant skills and knowledge I could apply to my role, there was a gap specifically in what I knew about digital/social media marketing.

How did you come to the decision of choosing NZIE? What made you think that NZIE would be the ones to solve your problem/need over other options?

The course was originally recommended to me. After further research and also talking to the course advisor, I knew straight away it was the right course for me.

In addition it was actually a friend who recommend NZIE for me. After some research and looking into the programme curriculum I decided to go for it!

What direct takeaways, outcomes and results did you gain? Did you gain what you wanted from the short course? Any quick wins that you have seen already as a result of the strategy you created?

The course taught me good habits as far as keeping the business presence active on social media through regular posting which has already attracted the attention of new followers and those engaging in our social posts. The importance of varied forms of content from photos, videos and testimonials has increased since completing this course.

Lastly, how was your overall learning experience? How did you find the online learning format and the length of the short course? Would you recommend NZIE?

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with NZIE. And I loved how short it was and flexible in terms of allowing me to continue with my full time job, juggle the responsibilities of parenting and family commitments and being able to study. So I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is looking to upskill without the extra unnecessary burdens. The lessons are interactive, engaging and what really helped is being able to apply my learnings in real time – with the guidance of our tutor. Thank you for the experience and the knowledge I’ve gained.
