NZ Diploma in Business (Level 6)

Enter the exciting world of business through this internationally recognised qualification.

The New Zealand Diploma in Business is designed for people with an interest in business and management.. You’ll develop practical business and commercial skills, which willl give you a solid foundation for taking on the business world, whether you head into a multinational corporation or a small family business.  Students who complete this course will be eligible for entry to NZ Universities. Students who achieve ‘B’ grades or higher are eligible and can cross-credit some of their papers studied at NZIE to their Business Degree at University.  International students who graduate from the NZ Diploma in Business will be eligble for a one-year open work visa on completion.

During the course  and also after graduating you will receive ‘mentorship’ and ‘internship’ opportunities with an employer so you can get some really good experience in the workplace. This programme is unique to NZIE and is offered as part of the course at no extra cost to you.

Entry Requirements:

New Zealand Students:

Have a minimum of 50 NCEA credits at level 2 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) with a minimum 12 credits at level 2 or higher in each of three subjects from the approved subject list, including a minimum of:

Eight credits at level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Māori, of which four credits must be in Reading and four in Writing, or equivalent; and

Have a minimum of 14 credits at level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau on the NQF, or equivalent.

Discretionary admission (for applicants aged under 20)

Applicants who do not meet the general admission requirements and who are less than 20 years of age when the course begins may be considered for discretionary admission if they can demonstrate aptitude for study at the required level.

Special admission (for applicants aged 20 and over)

Applicants who do not meet the general admission requirements and who are at least 20 years of age when the course begins may be considered for special admission if they can provide evidence of aptitude or appropriate work or other experience.

Entry requirements for international students: • 6.0 or higher for IELTS (or an equivalent test);
• Students must be at least 18 years old.

Employment Opportunities:

Assistant Manager or Management positions in any industry. NZIE’s own Recruitment Agency, ‘Think Recruit’ will assist you with work placement.

International Students will be entitled to a  ‘job finders’ one-year work Visa. NZIE will assist you with work placement opportunities on completion of the course.

Pathway to University:

Enrol on a Bachelor of Business programme at a New Zealand University and cross-credit your papers with a ‘B’ grade or higher on completion of the Diploma .

Graduates can gain a maximum of 120 credits from Massey University and AUT University and a maximum of 90 credits from the University of Auckland.
