Accommodation

When you study at NZIE, you can choose the type of accommodation that best suits your needs.

We have our own in-house accommodation counsellors who will help you to choose the best living option to make y the most of your experience.

Homestay Accommodation – The great thing about homestay accommodation is you get to experience living with a New Zealand family in a welcoming home environment. All meals (except weekday lunches) are included in your homestay cost. NZIE has it’s own homestay service that will match you with a pre-approved homestay family.  We believe we have the best homestays in Auckland and our Homestay Co-ordinator had been running our own homestay service at NZIE for over 16 years so she knows a thing or two about picking the right homestay for the right person.

Rental Accommodation – You may wish to rent your own accommodation in a house, flat or apartment. This is a great option for older students or those seeking more independence. Approximate market prices are NZ$150-$200 per room, excluding food and expenses. Our accommodation partners can place you in a room in a flat shared with other students. Let us know your plans when you apply and we can organise everything for you.

Hostels & Backpackers – There are many backpacker lodges and hostels in Central City(10 minutes bus ride from the school) where you can stay short or medium term. There is usually a choice of private rooms, shared rooms or dormitory. Prices range from approximately NZ$150-$220 per week. We only recommend this to students who have a good level of English and plan a short-term stay in NZ.

Au Pair - Do you love kids and have some childcare experience? We use NZ’s premiere Au Pair services so you’ll get matched with the best family for you.  Spend approximately 20 hours per week performing childcare and housework duties in a homestay family and in return our families will provide you with a free room and board plus some spending money.  This option is available for students on Working Holiday Visas only.
