Diploma in Applied Business (Majors: International Marketing & Advanced Management) (Level 7) (120 Credits)

Course Aim:

This course provides you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to apply analytical tools to business and marketing issues in a dynamic global business environment.  It offers two areas of specialisation in that students can major either in International Marketing or Advanced Management.

It aims to facilitate students’ understanding of the design and implementation of marketing strategies in emerging international markets.  Students learn specialised management subjects such as Business Process Management and International Business Finance.

It combines classroom-based learning with a practical research-based internship project and aims to provide students with the applied and practical business skills to build upon the business theory learnt in previous diplomas and/or degree based learning.  It develops students’ abilities to adapt marketing strategies to specific national market needs and constraints, enables them to identify, analyse, research identified business issues, and produce their findings and implications, and equips them with a practical applied business and marketing diploma with an employment-focused outcome.

 Course Outcome:

Graduates of this course will be able to achieve the following outcomes:-

  •  Working in an Export/Import industry both in New Zealand and Overseas
  •  Ability to run Marketing Campaigns for International Businesses or SMEs in New Zealand
  •  Ability to run Digital Marketing Campaigns for International Businesses or SMEs in New Zealand
  •  Complete Marketing and Strategic Delivery Plans for Business

 Course Content:

Course content includes marketing planning and control, research methods for business/marketing, international marketing, digital marketing (in-house project-based), business process management, international business finance, and research-based project with internship. Internship is for a maximum of 40 hours per week for 3 months and is unpaid.

Entry Requirements:

All students must have completed NQF level 5 or an equivalent international diploma or degree and have an IELTS of 6.0 band or equivalent English standard.
